Southampton, the oldest English settlement in New York State, was established in 1640 and incorporated as a village in 1894. Located on Long Island’s South Fork, it is renowned for its rich colonial history, upscale estates, and pristine beaches. The village boasts attractions such as the historic Halsey House, Lake Agawam, and Cooper’s Beach—often ranked among the nation’s top beaches. Southampton is also home to the Shinnecock Indian Reservation, one of the oldest Native American reservations in the U.S., reflecting the area’s deep-rooted cultural heritage. Today, it serves as a premier summer resort destination, attracting affluent visitors and offering a blend of historical charm and modern luxury.
